We are proud to announce that Proserv continues to be recognised as an Investor in Young People organisation.

Investors in Young People is a framework which seeks to recognise employers who demonstrate excellence in recruiting and retaining young people. We first achieved this award back in 2015 for our sites in Aberdeen and Coatbridge.

So what did the report find?

The assessor completed visits to Proserv’s facilities in both Coatbridge and Aberdeen, meeting a total of 27 people to discuss our overall approach to young people. The report found that despite the downturn in the industry, we have continued to focus on our people, seeing them as integral to the future success of our business. We have also developed our strategies in order to support retention and career progression throughout the business.

Our focus on career paths and planning for engineering graduates was considered commendable, with a planned strategy and resources made available. Graduates were all highly positive about the support they had to pursue their careers. Meanwhile, for apprentices, improvements have been made as a result of the introduction of competency levels with increased clarity about what skills and capabilities need to be demonstrated in order to progress.

When asked about what keeps them at Proserv, feedback included:

  • Good support from managers
  • Opportunities to progress
  • Enjoying the work and working with colleagues
  • Benefits package, including holidays and pension

Paul Douglas, VP Proserv Academy, said: “The assessment was a good way of reflecting on the great work we have completed in terms of driving forward the learning and development of our people, including the next generation.

“People development remains a priority for Proserv and this award is further acknowledgment that we are, indeed, continuing to help all our people be the best they can.”
