Proserv employees unite to raise thousands for UK charities

Throughout 2017 we have managed to successfully fundraise £4,000 through the efforts of our UK staff.

A team of 30, from each of the company’s UK locations, collectively took part in our annual Proserv Coast 2 Coast Fundraising Challenge. They successfully cycled from North Scotland’s Ardgay to Ullapool and back, totalling more than 100 miles, in just two days. The huge endeavour raised more than £2,200, and counting, in aid of Charlie’s House, an Aberdeen-based charity which supports children with complex disabilities and life limiting conditions.

In addition to the annual Proserv event, Sam Hanton, Vice President subsea services at Proserv, took part in the recent Deloitte Ride Across Britain challenge, cycling from Land’s end to John O’ Groats in aid of two local Aberdeen charities. The intense 969 mile journey took nine days, with total ascents of 15,000m – almost twice the height of Mount Everest. Sam’s efforts raised more than £1,000 in donations.

Sam said: “It was a fantastic experience with an additional challenge provided by some harsh weather conditions, but fundraising for local charities – Light UP Children’s Charity and Maggie’s Cancer Centres – kept me going through the nine days and I’m delighted with the amount raised!

Light UP Children’s Charity offers small grants to children living in Aberdeenshire who by virtue of ill-health, disability, financial hardship or any other disadvantage need further assistance, while Maggie’s Cancer Centres offers practical, emotional and social support for anyone affected by cancer, with a centre positioned locally in the grounds of Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Richard Berry, Production Supervisor, also raised more than £800 by completing a skydive which saw him jump out of a plane at 10,000 feet. All money raised was donated to CLIC Sargent, a UK-based charity, which supports young people living with cancer.

Iain Smith, Regional President (UK and Europe) at Proserv, added: “At Proserv, teamwork is integral, both inside and out of the workplace, and one of our core values so it’s fantastic to see such a large group of staff fundraise in aid of great causes – their efforts are an inspiration to us all. A big congratulations to all involved.
