What You Need to Know

Reporting directly to the Production Manager, you would be responsible for carrying out testing activities in accordance with approved procedures; maintain records, undertake equipment configuration/fault finding and, where necessary, liaise with engineers to resolve issues relating to testing.

A background in electronic, software or automation system testing will allow the Test Technician to configure test equipment, fault finding as they carry out product and system testing.

 

Key Accountabilities (includes, but not limited to the following)

  • To work with the Test Engineer and SCM Supervisor to ensure testing activities are undertaken in a professional and safe manner.
  • To ensure that testing is undertaken in accordance with approved project Inspection and Test Plans such that all identified hold and witness points are applied.
  • To ensure that precise records are maintained during testing and to ensure that completed records are passed in a timely manner to the company manufacturing record system
  • To provide feedback for Engineering/Management consideration on Factory Acceptance and Integration test procedures, as appropriate.
  • Worked with RS232, RS485 and CAN bus / MODBUS communication protocol
  • Must be competent using appropriate tooling (4-20 mA, megger, test connectors, torque wrenches, torque gun, etc.)
  • Knowledgeable on hydraulic components such as regulators, relief valves, different types of hoses, fittings, and adapters used on test set-ups and assemblies.
  • To ensure that equipment used in testing is safe and serviceable and, where appropriate, is covered by current valid certification.
  • To represent the Company during client and third party witness testing.
  • Travel to domestic and international sites as well as offshore facilities from time to time.
  • Know and understand Proserv’s Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality Systems Manual, Operating and Technical Procedures, and Workplace Instructions.
  • Ensure work assignments are carried out to the highest quality level.
  • Carry out any other delegated responsibilities as instructed by Line Management within the timeframe specified in a safe and efficient manner to meet business requirements, provided the instruction is reasonable and you are capable and deemed competent.

 

Qualifications

Education

Essential

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1 -3 years of related experience

Preferred

  • Associate’s Degree or Technical training

 

Skills & Experience

Essential

    • Understanding of electro hydraulic systems testing to set procedures.
    • Worked with RS232, RS485 and CAN bus / MODBUS communication protocol
    • Proven track record in an electro mechanical test and/or manufacturing environment.
    • Ability to read and interpret test procedures and schematic diagrams.
    • Ability to lead a small group of test technicians, if required.
    • Experience of maintaining precise documentation and records.
    • Ability to work in a team environment and to communicate with engineers, development personnel and technicians.
    • Competent using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
    • Ability to liaise with clients and third parties during the testing phase.
  •  

 Preferred

    • Proven track record with in-depth multi-disciplined testing and fault finding.
    • Working knowledge of controls/communications software and SCADA.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programs, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel.
    • Manual handling training.
    • Lifting and slinging training, if appropriate

Physical Demands

    • Capable of traveling to various facilities around the regions, as well as international locations for meetings or training as necessary and directed.
    • Ability to lift and carry files, packages, boxes weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
    • Natural or corrected vision to read printed materials and computer screen.
    • Natural or corrected hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
    • Capable of properly using standard office equipment, including telephone, and a computer with keyboard.
    • Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Includes hard hat, steel toed shoes, safety glasses, etc

Work Environment

  • Work will mostly be performed indoors in a controlled environment. Some exposure to the manufacturing and shop areas, which are open, and not air conditioned.
