What You Need to Know

As the Test & Commission Team Supervisor you will be  responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Aftermarket Service Department as it relates to Test & Commission projects. This position is responsible for the guidance, development, and leadership of the Service Controls technicians. Most importantly this position requires a team player who will provide leadership support as well as team support for peers and direct reports.

  • Serve as project lead on all test & commission projects on/offshore and in-house.
  • Manage workflow of incoming test & commission jobs and project schedules. Utilize resource planning tools to identify and assign manpower requirements.
  • Direct team meetings as necessary.
  • Ensure that all test & commission projects are completed satisfactorily.
  • Manage and assign Service Controls Technicians to ensure the efficient deployment of labor and equipment to customer projects.
  • Coordinate and assist Service personnel needs within department.
  • Maintain awareness of anticipated projects and upcoming labor, materials/tooling, logistics, and safety needs to effectively meet customer requirements.
  • Monitor contractual obligations. Communicate with customers regularly to verify satisfaction and resolve issues, as necessary.
  • Assist with invoicing projects to ensure necessary paperwork is checked and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work with Procurement, Engineering, Quality, Shipping/Receiving and Project management.
  • Resolve Aftermarket project issues by liaising with other department leaders, analyzing data; investigating; identifying solutions; recommending action.
  • Provide regular written reports for KPI and other performance data, as well as other service-related results and updates as requested.
  • Assist in investigations of all project incidents (recordable incidents, near miss, and first aid) and ensure proper records are recorded. Assist in implementation of corrective actions as necessary and ensure project sites are following Proserv safety standards.
  • Direct resources and activities to support Company Health Safety and Environmental (“HSE”) programs by providing advice and guidance to management.
  • Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing Proserv standards.
  • Carry out any other delegated responsibilities as instructed by Line Management within the timeframe specified in a safe and efficient manner to meet business requirements, provided the instruction is reasonable and you are capable and deemed competent.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education

Essential

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Associate degree for Automation Controls

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college/university in Engineering, Technology, or similar.

 

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • 5 to 8 years experience as control system specialist in PLC and human machine interface programming for topside/subsea oil and gas industry with advanced knowledge of SCADA/PLC/RTU programming/design and electrical/electronic equipment design and application and automation systems.
  • Minimum five (5) to eight (8) years of work experience in Oil and Gas Automation Controls Services at either supervisory or team lead levels.
  • Strong background in project estimating, budgeting, and cost tracking.
  • Experience leading a team with a strong focus on safety and customer service.
  • Strong time management/leadership skills and ability to work effectively under pressure; manage changing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communications skills. Able to communicate effectively and express thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
  • Willingness to travel and assist offshore projects.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Physical dexterity required; Ability to swim and obtain Offshore Water Survival certificate as this position requires travel to offshore worksites (vessel/platforms).
  • Ability and willingness to travel at short notice and for extended periods of time.
  • Constant need (66%-100% of the time) engaged in the following activities:
      • Sitting, standing, and walking; use of hands; reach with hands and arms; regularly speak/hear; regularly use specific vision abilities such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
      • Lift or carry up to fifty (50) pounds or more.       
  •   Moderate need (33%-66%of the time) engaged in the following activities:
      • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; climb stairs.
      • Ability to travel by automobile, boat, helicopter and/or plane.

 

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation(s) may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Work will generally be performed indoors in a controlled environment, however there is a frequent need (33% to 66% of the time) to enter a shop and/or outdoor environment with exposure to various elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and work overtime, after hours, on weekends and holidays. 
  • Work environment will require moderate physical activity. Requires regular handling of average-weight objects, up to fifty (50) pounds or more, standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
  • Work environment involves exposure to hazards or physical risks, which will require following basic safety precautions/procedures. Ability to wear required PPE when needed (e.g., hard hats, steel toe boots, etc.)
  • Physical ability to travel by automobile/plane/helicopter/boat. Frequent travel required and travel may be short notice to meet client demands.
  • Travel will be to offshore facilities, offshore production platforms and drilling rigs. Offshore work shifts can range from twelve (12) to fourteen (14) hours and can last up to four (4) weeks at a time.
  • Physical ability to attain training certifications for Oil and Gas Offshore work required. Training required may include , but not limited to:
      • Rig Pass/Safe Gulf/Safe Land
      • Offshore Water Survival (HUET)
      • OPITO approved Basic Offshore Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET)
      • Medical Certification of Fitness for Offshore Work (OGUK)
      • Full vaccination requirements for offshore travel.
